Quinteto Unibrass: Ensamble cameral de instrumentos de viento de metal que conforman lo que se conoce en el argot musical como “Brass”. El grupo fundado en el año 2006 en Cartagena de Indias con el nombre Heroica Brass por el maestro cornista Thomas Hurliman, ha venido trabajando con ahínco, en pos de la divulgación de la cultura musical en la ciudad con una serie de recitales y conciertos en diversos escenarios. Desde el 2010 y con el apoyo de la Institución Universitaria de Bellas Artes de Cartagena de Indias, Heroica Brass se presenta como Unibrass y entra a hacer parte del esquema académico de la universidad. En el año 2012 con el apoyo incondicional de la Fundación Tocando Puertas, elaboramos el proyecto que hoy se hace realidad: llevar nuestra música colombiana fuera de nuestras fronteras, mediante un intercambio cultural universitario con la Virginia Commonwealth University..
Con arreglos del tubista César López y la dirección musical del cornista José luis Montes, el quinteto recrea los diferentes ritmos más representativos de nuestro folklor, abarcando las zonas geográficas que conforman nuestro país.
Conjuntamente Heroica Brass o Unibrass, fuera de ser un quinteto como tal, se conforma como una Fundación con alcances sociales.

EVENTS, WEDDINGS
The events where we appear most frequently are weddings. Cartagena de Indias is a popular place for such occasions. Likewise, for masses, festivals or presentations, our music produces a unique and special feeling, because it can not usually be heard in this city, but only with us. If you are planning your event, contact us to find a suitable date, and you can listen and choose from our repertoir what you want us to play. You can also contact us if you need someone to organize everything around your wedding, we know the right people that can help you.
PRESENTATIONS FOR SCHOOLS
We pay special attention to school presentations, because we believe that it is very important that the young of the new generation receive a real impression of what classical music is. Most people have a somehow distorted idea about this kind of music, because they only know it reproduced in bad quality from standard stereo or even mono equipment, which may be good enough for pop music but not for the natural sounds of classical music. And when they do hear classical music on radio, it is mostly a type of easy listening, something that is far from being an impression. It is therefore not a surprise that children say they find classical music boring. We want to change this perception by playing pieces that have power and deepness, using the glory of our brass instruments. The environment is important!
Please take into consideration that it is very important where classical music is being played. It is the same for a concert, event or presentation: Music from natural instruments needs the resonance of a room, ideally a big church. It gives the sound more dynamic and brilliance. There is nothing more unfriendly for sound than playing outside under open sky.
