Is
the information I provide to Ecliptic protected?
We don't sell to, share with or divulge any of your personal information
(including your email address) to other companies. In fact, the
personal information you submit to us by using our order form
is exclusively used to register your rights to use the purchased
images.
Which
browsers are compatible with this site?
We prefer to use pure HTML for our site, the only Javascript is
used on the order form and for a very small script (jump menu)
on the homepage. So our site should work with any browser that
conforms to standard HTML. We tested it on Macintosh with Camino
0.7, Internet Explorer 5.2 and Safari.
Does
my browser need to accept cookies?
No. Our shopping experience is not very fancy as of yet which
means you will have to type the product code into the order form.
This way we do not have to rely on cookies to store shopping cart
data as it is common with other sites.
Do
I need to be able to make a secure connection to your site?
You do not need to have a secure connection if you are only searching
for images on our site, but when you go to checkout and pay with
your credit card you will need a secure connection and your information
will be protected. The payment for our images is managed by Paypal.
See Paypal for more information
about their secure transactions.
Licensing
What
does «royalty-free» mean?
Royalty-free means the images you purchase are yours to use whenever
you want, for as many projects as you want. No usage fees or additional
charges are applied. But remember for any publication the image
must be marked as «© by www.ecliptic.ch».
You are not allowed to resell the images or to alter or manipulate
them. You may not use Ecliptic images on any product where the
image itself becomes the primary aspect of the product for resale
(for instance, if an image is used on a coffee cup to sell that
coffee cup, on a T-shirt to sell that T-shirt, etc.).
How
does your licensing work?
Please read our license agreement for
details on product licenses. If you have questions, email
Ecliptic directly.
Can
I have exclusive rights on an image?
It is possible to give you exclusive usage and publishing rights
for your region or worldwide and for a defined time, but this
depends on the royalty-free sales status of the image in question.
You will need to contact us in any case since exclusive rights
carry additional charges.
Can
I get an image for free?
Yes we have a special offer in exchange for a link back to our homepage you can get an image of your choice in the size of max. 250 x 250 pixels, without marks. You are allowed to use it on websites only, and there MUST be a link back to us next to the image. Visit the free-image-page for more information.
Purchasing images
Do
I need to register to purchase?
You do not have to be a member of our service, so you do not register
with us using password and username. But you will need to register
with Paypal in order to use
their service to pay for our images.
Is
it safe to use my credit card to pay for your images?
Yes it is, because all of our credit card transactions are handled
by Paypal, one of the best
known and experienced payment service providers on the web that
uses state-of-the-art encryption technologies to secure your transactions.
How
do I determine image prices?
We have fixed image pricing, you will find it on the detail page
of each image.
Can
I download the images I purchased?
No, all images you purchase will be processed manually and then
sent to you by email. We are a small business and for that reason
developing fully automated online access to all our images is
beyond our financial means (alas!).
How
much time do you need to send the images to me?
After
we receive your Paypal payment we will process and send the images
to your email address without further delay. Usually orders received
by 11pm UTC (or GMT) time will be emailed the same day, orders
received after 11pm will be emailed the next business day.
Using digital images
Your
image has some text on it but it's not in English, can you change
the language?
You can choose on the order form which language you need, if there
is already text included in the desired image we will change it
free of charge to English, Spanish or German.
Will
you add text or a sign to an image?
We can include your own text or sign for an additional fee. Choose
the corresponding option on our order form.
The
image I like does not have the colors I need, can you change that?
Choose the corresponding option on the order form if
you want to have the colors of an image changed for an additional
charge. (Examples: Dress color should be red or change all blue
to green [cyan 47%, magenta 0%, yellow 63%, black 19%] or turn
black & white image into a color image with green and blue
hues.)
You
deliver RGB images but we use 2 color Pantone offset print, can
you prepare the image for us?
Choose the color change option (for an additional charge)
on the order form and indicate how you want to apply the colors.
We will then be able to send you the image as a 2-color separated
TIFF.
Why
are images in RGB format instead of CMYK?
Images from Ecliptic are intended to be as versatile as possible.
We simply believe it’s best that our customers determine
exactly how images are converted to CMYK. When an RGB image is
converted to CMYK, several parameters must be considered, including
paper stock, four-colour film output device, layout software programs
used, types of inks used and special effects, etc. which, we feel,
are decisions best left to the designer.
How
large can I print your digital images?
Generally, our images can be enlarged to 130% of their original
image size without diminishing their high quality. Since it's
critical that you determine the resolution necessary for the output
device, we recommend that you consult your printer or service
bureau to find out the specific capabilities of the device to
be used.
How
do I achieve optimal results producing four-colour?
In order to create a quality four-colour separation, there are
several steps you'll need to take, including determining the image
resolution, calibrating your system, selecting the right service
bureau and checking your files. It's always a good idea to discuss
the details of your publication with a representative at your
commercial printer before you create the final film output. It's
also a good idea to produce a high-end colour print like Iris
to make sure you are happy with the colour before going to film.
